JBC Certifies that all the products in the range are compatible with lead free technology. This applies to equipment of former generations (i.e. JT7000, AD2200, AM6000 etc.) as well as all the current products. The differences that may be experienced between the use of lead containing and leadfree alloys are:
-Slightly longer process time, especially using Hot air and-or the need to use higher temperature i.e. 30 to 40 degrees Celcius extra. Also it can be recommended to use a bottom heater for some applications.
-For contact tools like soldering Irons, hot tweezers and desoldering irons JBC recommends NOT to use an increased temperature. The large majority of solder joints can be made successfully at 350 degrees Celcius using the JBC technology, if necessary, a higher temperature can be used.
- If standard soldering tips are used for lead free, the tiplife will be shorter than if a lead containing alloy is used.
JBC recommends the use of our extended life cartridges. This will result in a tiplife of 3 to 5 times longer than any competitor.
